19. Rex is so worried about being replaced that he starts shaking the table. He could represent people at Pixar having their ideas being ignored. This could also be seen as a phone call, and one of the employees worried about what the boss is sayin.
20a 20b. Woody and the toys find out the boys and the presents are coming up, so they panic. Pixar knows their not gonna like these new ideas…
21a 21b 21c 21d. As you can see, Disney aren’t that nice when it comes to their ideas, with no regard to the workplace environment. New ideas come, and the regulars are treated like crap…
23. Behold… The new idea…
24. Buzz takes himself way too seriously, thinkin he’s the real deal. Disney are so caught-up in their hype, they don’t realise how foolish they sound.
25. “Seems to be no sign of intelligent life anywhere” = “Seems to be nobody at this company with any bright ideas”
26. Woody tells him the bed is “my spot” = “my ideas”
27. Buzz meets his friends, telling them “I come in peace” and Rex goes “I’m so glad your not a dinosaur” Dinosaurs are usually known for eating people, but the idea here is he knows he’s not gonna be eaten metaphorically / have his ideas dumped on.
28. “Buzz Light-year to the rescue!” = “Disney is gonna save the box office” but we all know he’s not rescuing anybody…
29. The toys ask him where he’s from, and Buzz gives them this huge scripted response. This can be seen as that one guy in the room who says he has an idea, but he’s only saying what you wanna hear, or telling you something his boss told him.
30. Woody isn’t impressed, and neither is Pixar…
31a 31b. Woody calls him a toy, but Buzz tells him he’s a space ranger, again taking himself too seriously. Woody also tells him he can’t fly, but Buzz says he can. The word “fly” is a metaphor for “box office success”

33. With the help of a magnet he’s able to fly around the room…
34. Woody calls it “falling with style” and as I said with #31 the idea here is that sure, Disney can succeed, but not without help… the term “falling with style” to me means “lucky box office despite boring story”
35. Buzz teaching Rex how to scare = Disney teaching its workers how to scare Pixar…
36.
“You wanna do it the hard way” = “Don’t put down my ideas”
“You actually think your Buzz Lightyear” = “You actually think your ideas are that good”
This is off topic but I always loved this scene, and I love Woody’s attitude. And I totally get where he’s coming from, not wanting something that he owns, taken from him. He’s such a determined, and passionate character and I love that about him.
