The Shining
Whether you’re into the horror genre or not, everybody knows about The Shining. I’ve seen this movie alot of times as a kid, but didn’t fully appreciate it till I got older and understood the impact it had on the horror genre. I’m gonna try my best to give my opinion on these scenes but trust me I’m nowhere as good as those other guys, the ones who use all those fancy symbols and shit. I’m gonna try and be as basic as possible, but I’ll add in my own little metaphors where their needed:
1. Relaxing shot…
2. An almost identical shot of the mountain is used in Misery (1990)
3. Even though their smiling and giggling, this scene is actually pretty intense (atleast to me)
4. Badass scene…
5. Stephen King was a smoker. Wendy also brings up that Jack was a school teacher, another job King had at the time.
6. Very symmetrical…
7. Just like Rocky (1976) alotta the clothing they wear doesn’t really look like it fits the time of the movie. The girls that walk by in this scene are the only people (atleast to me) with any 80’s hairstyle. Everybody else’s hair is very natural and straight.
8. Another pretty intense scene, even though not much is said.
9. This looks so fun lol.
10. You don’t see the kitchen alot, but it’s actually one of my favorite scenes, it just has so much atmosphere.
11. I kinda like these 2 pics side by side, they look pretty symmetrical. If you combine em it looks like Danny is riding up the steps.
12. Pretty intense scene, as you can tell Jack doesn’t wanna be bothered.
13. I’ve heard a couple people say Brad Dourif (voice of Chucky) was inspired by Jack’s intensity on screen, though I’m not sure. They both make the same face when their angry, and they kinda sound the same too. As a little side note, I read somewhere that Jack actually auditioned for Child’s Play but lost to Brad so, there you go.

14. Jack is officially possessed…
15. I always liked this scene too, very cute.
16. Love the symmetry…
17. The setting itself is scary: just very dark and eerie, and atmospheric.
18. Jack loses his mind.
19. Another kitchen scene, very badass. He also uses a line from Child’s Play 2 (1990) “Open the goddamn door!”
20. The infamous scene!
21. Jurassic Park…
22. Horror Rule #12: No Black Man Alive!
23. I still don’t get this scene, but I don’t think I want to…
24. Very eerie…
Red
I’m calling this Red cause these are all the scenes and pics that I found with the color red in them. I’ve heard about the color red used in certain horror movies, as its supposed to represent evil. I also looked up the definition in google: used to denote something forbidden, dangerous, or urgent, all terms that fit a movie with this tone.
1. Red Shirt
2. Red Blood
3. Red Chairs
4. Red Jacket
5. Red Shirt
6. Red Key
7. Red Jacket
8. Red Jacket
9. Red Chair
10. Even the tv is red lol
11. Red Bathroom
12. Red Shirt
13. Red Stripe
14. Red Shirt
15. Red Jeep
This is one of the few analyses that I did where I actually didn’t learn anything different by doing it. When I did Toy Story and Beetlejuice, some of the stuff I wrote was stuff I already planned, but most of it was stuff I learned on the fly.
But thankfully, through my eagerness to get something more out of this little walkthrough, I did learn something new. In these pics (and in most scenes) Jack is wearing red, but Wendy is wearing green. I looked up the color green on the internet and here are some of the descriptions that I got:
“concerned with or supporting protection of the environment as a political principle”
“inexperienced, naive, or gullible”
“make less harmful or more sensitive to the environment”
And when I read these, I was just like “Oh my god, their all Wendy!” lol.
“concerned with or supporting protection of the environment as a political principle”
She’s definitely concerned about Jack, and she seems like she wants to protect him.
“inexperienced, naive, or gullible”
She seems pretty gullible and naïve in alotta scenes. What I mean by that is (atleast up until this point) she’s kinda chill and just goes with the flow, not matter how nasty Jack is to her.
“make less harmful or more sensitive to the environment”
She definitely seems like she wants to make Jack less harmful, especially when he throws those little tantrums.
