26. I love this scene, where Four explains the rules…
27. My boy Eric helps in laying out the rules, saying the losers will be cut, just like in life. Christina says someone should’ve told them the new rules but Eric tells her they would’ve chosen differently out of fear. Again just like in life, you plan stuff out then have to adjust.
28a 28b 28c. Various methods of training…
29. First jumper vs last jumper. It’s obvious why they made the chick on the left the last jumper, cause (no offense) the last people to do anything are usually people with lost self-esteem, like geeks and fat people.
30. Even though Tris is low on the score board, you still see her trying hard, which is what life is all about.
31a 31b. Love these shots…
32. Tris is told to stand against the wall while Four throws knives at her. The basic thing here is staying calm under pressure. She’s also getting punished for standing up for one of her friends. It’s no different than interrupting your boss while their scolding someone. Making Tris stand against the wall is no different than your boss forcing you to listen to em.
33. Sometimes in this world, the men are against the women, even if its not always physical. And also sometimes you gotta leave your friends behind to get what you want in life.
34a 34b. Tris gets injured, but still runs to catch the train. Not only does this show bravery, but it also shows that even when you’re knocked down, you can still be brave enough to fight.
35. Tris gets hooked up to the zip line cords. She’s scared at first, then she gets used to it.
36. Eventually she gets towards the end, where the other teens tell her to pull the cord to stop so she doesn’t hit the wall. To me its like saying “no matter how much fun your having, you gotta know when to stop”
37. Eventually she runs into her mother, who tells her she was Divergent too, so I’m guessing it was genetic.
38. Four wants to see what’s inside her head.
39a 39b. Fear of birds, fear of drowning.
40a 40b. “How’d you get rid of the birds” “How’d you break the glass”
What he really means is “How did you overcome your fears so easily”
What he really means is “How did you overcome your fears so easily”
41. Tris talks to Tori again. She tells Tris that the last Divergent they found was killed. Some people hate people who are different.
42. Geek…
43. Tris visits J, and she tells her that she wants to “eradicate” the bad guys / people who are different. She even uses the word “society” in this scene, in talking about how people conduct themselves out in the real world, by lying, stealing, etc. She also mentions how her brother might be in on this as well, noting that you can’t always trust your own family.
44. Four wants to go inside her head…
45. This was actually the shot that made me see the movie, I didn’t even know what the story was lol. And as I mentioned above, it was a random choice but one that I am thankful to have made. I wish someone would make a high quality video game, like a third person shooter in a giant city like this. But nope, all we get is boring games set in boring jungles or drowned in snow, not impressed.
46. I still don’t understand this scene “Marcus had a son” Maybe Four didn’t want a brother, I don’t know.
47. He has tattoo’s of all the different personality types, cause he wants to have all those qualities, like strength, honesty, etc.
48. They all wanna see inside her head, just like #38. When you’re different, people wanna know why.
49. Then, they wanna control you…
50. They turned everybody else into robots. When you don’t know who you are your easy to control, and people can manipulate you. I was kinda like this in high school, cause I didn’t know who I was, I was just going through the motions, so I know how it feels.
