34. Other / MJ, Wade, etc
Random shit I wrote down about Michael and his backstabbers. If I say the same thing twice I apologize:
3 lines or less
-One dude posted a Zain Bhika song and another dude went “MJ forever” lol. Its safe to say the fanbase has been poisoned by the Casio songs. It’s so poisoned, the song doesn’t even need to be a Cascio song, it can be any of those impersonators / sound-alikes and people buy into it.
-I read this on tmz, some dude claimed to be MJ’s son and wanted money. But it was proven false the next day lol.
-Some guy named Safeshuck is now suing Michael for molesting him, ugh.
-I’ve never seen or been interested in Michael Jackson’s Immortal world tour.
-Michael Jackson song “Billie Jean” lead vocals were recorded in 1 take.
-Michael and the name Diana have come up alot and I thought this was interesting: Diana Ross, Dirty Diana, Princess Diana, and there was a girl in the Who is it video (according to wiki) named Diana.
-Some artists have good singles and the rest of the songs on their album suck. For Michael it’s the opposite, alot of his best songs aren’t even singles (like Unbreakable)
4 lines or more
-Not only Wade, but now Murray is getting news coverage. Around early March 2014 I read on TMZ he posted vacation photos of him and his kids. The guy who killed Michael Jackson shouldn’t be getting coverage like this. Same thing with George Zimmerman, for killing that black kid.
-I read on tmz on Nov 2nd 2014 that Tom Sneddon died that morning. I couldn’t help but smile. Dude was a piece of shit, and I always hated the way he looked. I remember this one documentary on Michael that I saw, where he was on the stand talking about the allegations and all the news people were there. And he said “Jackson has said this lawsuit was gonna ruin this CD or whatever that he has coming out, as if he thinks we’re into that sorta music” like sit the fuck down bruh, you lame as shit.
-There’s this new book by Damien shields called Xscape Origins. Some reviews say that he’s painted as a “monster” cause he was against the Cascio tracks, but I’m against them too. And the family believes the exact same thing we do, so I don’t understand how we’re against Michael. If anything, look at all the MJ death hoaxers out there, those are the fake fans. They’re supposedly a fan of someone who’d fake their death and spend more time looking into that then his own music.
-Michael has 2 types of demos: the unfinished songs, where he just mumbles (Much Too Soon, In the Back, etc) and songs that he did finish, but didn’t make his albums (Another Day, Escape, She Was Lovin Me, We’ve Had Enough, etc) So whenever I say “alot of the songs that didn’t make his albums were better than the stuff that did make it” I’m referring to those songs.
-I was reading over the news section awhile back and I did this one thing on the Xscape album where I mentioned Michael. I made a mistake saying Michael was from Illinois. He’s actually from Gary Indiana, my bad. I always get those 2 mixed up. Michael was born in Gary Indiana not Chicago Illinois. Sorry for that mishap cause I always get those 2 states confused.
-One dude on youtube posted Stay, which I think was confirmed as a Malachi song. I told him the song was fake, and without responding he gave me a link to this site where they had the supposed info of Michael recording the Cascio songs before he died in 2007. But instead of saying the song sounded like Michael he gave me a link lol. Grow some balls bruh. To me it’s like if I were to say “I like this movie” Then someone asks me why and instead of saying “I like this scene or that scene” I instead give him a link to a site that says the movie is amazing. I could give a fuck what anybody else says, if I think the movie was badass then that’s it, and I have no problem saying it, and that should be the same for everybody. That’s why they call it an “opinion” and if you don’t have the balls to defend it, then you’re a puppet and a fake fan and you have no balls.
If you don’t wanna argue then fine, cause its just an opinion, but don’t be afraid to say how you feel and gives reasons why, and people that defend the Cascio songs don’t do that. Nobody has the balls to straight up say “You know what dude, these songs sound like him to me” and that’s what the fanbase is made up of now, people with no balls.
-This dude named Phoenix (who I heard was famous for making Touched by the Jacksons which was critically acclaimed) is some author and has another book. He claims Michael never sang on History or Invincible, what an idiot. I first read about this on MJJC (MJ forum) and everybody said the same thing, that he was an idiot. Eventually I read a review on the book, which basically told me everything I needed to hear. This was taken from Amazon.com:
“If I could give this piece of garbage zero stars, that's what it would get from me. Don't buy it, people. It is sensationalistic crap. A claim that Michael Jackson did not sing on his last three albums and that it was a "sound-alike" in the recording studio, because he couldn't sing any more is just total bulls***, so lord knows what other lies are between the pages. The "This Is It" movie clearly shows MJ singing, live, at the age of 50 in 2009. Other footage of him in the recording studio with Barry Gibb shows him clearly singing and recording "All In Your Name", in 2006/2007. It's a disgrace that a publisher (and then a site like Amazon), would actually support such fabricated rubbish, which is just an attempt to make money from Michael's name and drag his reputation through the mud, yet again. Michael Jackson took great pride in his work and to try to denigrate his legacy.....his body of work like this....well......it's unforgivable. The person that gave it a five-star rating must be Phoenix's mother. :( -they sue Michael every 10 years; 1993, 2003 and 2013 with this Wade Robson crap. Atleast Chandler had the balls to sue him when he was alive, and that old fuck is low as dirt. The people that are suing him now are so stupid and they really need to fuck off.”
LMAO!
And let me tell you I’ve never read such a brutally honest review like that in my life!
35. Other Artists
Random shit I wrote down for other artists:
3 lines or less
-I saw a video with Drake and Kanye for this Blessing video with some other dude. They both look whack in the video, especially Kanye hoppin around trying to look cool. Dude looks like a straight up dork to me with his big ass jaw.
-I read and saw a video on TMZ of Jay Z getting slapped by Beyonce’s sister in an elevator lol. It was funny cause I hate Jay Z so much and he just stood there like a clown. He should’ve gotten slapped in his big ass lips!
-I saw Beyonce’s baby for the first time on tmz. That baby look ugly as hell, look just like Jay Z wit his big lips lol.
-People I like: DMX, Snoop, Eminem, Busta, LL Cool J, Dre.
-People I hate: Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Bruno Mars, TI, Rick Ross, 50 Cent, , Jay Z, Lil Wayne.
-Brandy’s song “Truthfully” was recorded in 1 take according to wiki.
-Brandy’s song “True” was actually written for Michael Jackson and his new album.
-Brandy’s song “Brokenhearted” was recorded in 1 take according to wiki.
-Mariah Carey vocally hit her peak around the Daydream album, cause she did more belting in the Music Box album.
-My new favorite artist is this chick named Ellie Goulding cause she can actually sing and her harmonies are out of this world.
-J and Beyonce got this whack music video called Drunk in Love where she hops around like a retard while she’s on the beach. You gotta be “drunk” to enjoy the song and I “love” changing the channel when the video pops up.
-The realest rappers today are DMX and Snoop.
4 lines or more
-Liking an artist and liking the artist’s music are 2 different things. For example I love DMX’s music, but I also love him as a person cause he’s real and he’s honest and he’s raw. I like some of Jay Z and 50 Cent’s music but I don’t like them personally, and think their both boring and whack. Especially 50 Cent and his goofy fuckin smile.
-Chris Brown wrote Slower and Put it Down, 2 songs that sound nothing alike. I found this interesting cause it’s the same reason why I choose certain movies over another. Sometimes I’ll look at the writer or director, and sometimes I’ll just look at the trailer itself to determine whether it looks interesting. But he also wrote Slower and Put it Down, 2 songs that sound nothing alike. Slower is one of my favorite songs, while Put it Down is one of Brandy’s worse. It just shows that sometimes it doesn’t really matter who writes a particular song, cause the results are pretty random. But he also wrote a song called Lights Out which is lyrically pretty similar to Slower. So sometimes people write duds and sometimes they write amazing.
-Like with movies I’m so much more open and I’m also listening to more mixtapes now. There’s more mixtapes and low budget movies now than in the last 10 years. I don’t like every song I hear but I like a couple. I’ll listen to a mixtape and out of the 50 songs I hear I’ll pick about 5 of em. Not alot of people are putting out albums anymore, guys like Nelly, Flavor Flav, Game, 50 Cent, people you don’t hear from anymore are on mixtapes. Alot of the mixtapes are also made by people in the country: Texas, Georgia, etc. Like movies, its easier for people in the country to get paid doing cheap albums like that than risk being dropped from a studio for having an album flop. It also gives them a chance to earn quick money here and there without having to put out an album every year.
-There’s this group I like called Rich Gang. And it’s so weird cause they look like a whack group of people, but something about them is so cool. I love Young Thug’s video Danny Glover and I love the video Flava cause its so dark and slick. I can’t understand a word they say but I love the videos lol. Some people think Young Thug is gay though. His gf Jerrika did an interview on djvlad and she was kinda blowin em off sayin he not gay cause he paints his nails and says rockstars do the same thing, and I agree. But the video got like 1000 dislikes and everybody was dissin him lol. Here’s some of the comments I thought were funny:
“I gave her a chance until she said Upcoming Entrepreneur...take this dislike.”
“Dislike Squad...........Finish Her!”
LMAO!
-Judging a song and judging a movie are 2 different things: For the most part I’m not really good at album / song reviews. With the kinda writing style that I have, it just doesn’t work for songs lol. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve re-edited the music section of my site, trying to get them to flow coherently. It’s just annoying going from 1 song to the next saying the same thing over and over: I like this song, love this song, I love this song lol. It gets very repetitive and boring. Eventually I put them in paragraph form so they look somewhat neat, but I’m not too fond of how I did em.
-Songs that sounds better either in the studio and / or in demo form. Brandy and Chris Brown both had songs that sounded better in the studio: I Don’t Care and Remember Me. When I first heard I Don’t Care in the studio I couldn’t wait to hear the song in full, but it sounded nothing like the studio version and they added this stupid snare to it. Same with Remember Me, cause the snippet I heard in the studio was thumpin. Then when the song came out, it sounded nothing like that. I was also hyped for Fan of a Fan 2 until I heard songs like We On and Honestly weren’t included. He also did a song called Moses, which also had its beat changed when it hit French Montana’s new album.
It’s like a rule now that the version that hits the album has to sound worse than the snippet. It’s like the snippets you hear are better than the album, which also goes for Michael Jackson. The stuff that leaks to the internet 9 times outta 10 is better than the version that hits the album. The original Another Day sounds 10 times better than the version that made the album with that stupid snare and so does Escape. She Was Lovin Me is the only song I can remember that actually sounds better than the demo, but I also had to speed it up a little.
-This is music related goes along with movies as well, but I also have a couple favorite soundtracks from some of my favorite movies. I’m not really a fan of orchestral music either but I could listen to these songs over and over:
Adjustment Bureau - Elise
Men in Black 3 - Mission Accomplished
One Hour Photo - Sy’s Theme
Upside Down also has a pretty cool soundtrack song but I don’t know what it’s called, its in the trailer though. Their all so dark and mysterious!
Next topic, movies! And its so big I’ve split it into 2 parts so stay tuned!
And finally, this is my last and final topic, split into 2 parts, Movies Part 1 and Part II. Together their around 30 pages long and like most of the stuff I’ve written in the update so far, I doubt anybody is gonna read the whole thing lol. But it doesn’t bother me, just refer to the guide I have up above and read what you want. But before I get into movies and stuff here’s a couple quick topics that I wanted to get off my chest. First up I wanna talk about this thing called ADR Screams. I think there’s another name for it but this is what I call it. Basically what this is, is scripted screams that are placed in certain movies. And it’s usually the same 4-5 screams over and over.
The most famous one is the Wilhelm scream, but I’m not gonna talk about that one cause you can easily find those in the trivia section for most movies on imdb. For example it’s used in Toy Story when Woody knocks Buzz out the window. But there’s also a couple other ones that I’ve heard, a couple of them are chicks and a couple are guy screams / yelps. Personally I hate these scripted screams and I don’t know why their even used. I don’t understand why they can’t just let the actors themselves do their own screaming. So anyway, over the year and a half here’s a bunch of screams I’ve heard. A majority of them are the other non-Wilhelm scripted screams, but the only Wilhelm screams I do include are from trailers and / or stuff on tv that you can’t find on imdb:
36. ADR
30 Days of Night has lots of ADR screams
American Horror Story has a scream in one of the teasers where a dude gets pulled into the lake by an alligator
Beavis and Butthead episode Rabies Scare uses a scream when dude falls over
Beavis and Butthead Halloween special episode there’s a scream
Black Sails trailer has a scream. The trailer I’m looking at is 1:25 and it happens around 1:09
Blackstreet video ft Old Dirty Bastard, Slash remix has a scream towards the end by the old lady
Cashpoint trailer has scream
Curse of the Puppet Master has scream when dude gets the rope thrown around his neck
CVS health tv commercial “Tick Tock” has grunt
DMX film The Bleeding has annoying yelp 50 minutes into the movie in some parade scene
GTA V Online Heists trailer has scream at :30
Legion has a scream in beginning when the cops get out the car
Piranha has screams
Puppetmaster Axis of Evil has scream when dude gets blade thrown at his eye
Purge Anarchy has 2 screams from Twisted Metal 3
Rambo the video game gameplay trailer has scream at :22
Route 666 trailer has scream. The video is 1:39 and the scream happens around :30
Twix commercial “Break Room” has Wilhelm Scream
The Legend of Hercules uses scream from Twisted Metal 3 towards the end when he swings his sword
The Remaining trailer uses scream from Twisted Metal 3
Steve Austin’s Broken Skull trailer uses a grunt. I can’t remember for which season but I heard it.
Taylor Swift video Bad Blood has scream from Twisted Metal 3 in beginning when dude gets his arms broken. I normally don’t watch her videos cause I think she’s lame as fuck but I saw it on MTV James one day, and had to write it down, but it was a good find.
37. Close Camera / Cropped Camera
Here’s another quick topic that I came up with. I’ve seen so many movies over the years, nowadays I’m just not even impressed anymore, so I start payin attention to other stuff, like stuff in the background and things. But over the years I started paying attention to the camera itself, and how close it gets to the actors faces. I don’t really look for it, but if I’m watching a movie, I notice it immediately. I even made a blog on it and talked about all the movies that I found (at that point anyway) where the director gets too close to the actors faces. To me it just takes me out of the scene, its like back the fuck up already lol.c
There’s also this thing I call “headshots” where 90% of the time, the camera is always on the characters face when they talk. So much that you barely see their shoulders and stuff. I don’t know about anybody else, but that stuff annoys me. Now with headshots, they don’t cut off the actors forehead or chin but it’s still pretty annoying. I also found out about this thing called Camera Crop, which (depending on when you read this) I’m gonna make a blog about. Most cameras are okay but with some, you always get the feeling there’s like 2-3 inches taken off the side of the screen.
And I can notice it the second the movie begins. A good example of this is the movie Edge of Tomorrow (2014) I noticed the Camera Crop in that movie like 2 seconds into the opening scene, where Tom arrives on the helicopter. Cause even though we see the helicopter, the camera is always pointing down towards the ground like an idiot, and I hate that. So anyway, I started making a list of all the movies that did it. But again this has nothing to do with how good or bad the movie is, just the camera:
Avengers has both Close Camera and bad editing
Captain Phillips
Divergent
Edge of Tomorrow
Elysium
Fast Five
Gridiron Gang
Halloween (2007)
Hancock
Hurricane Season (basketball movie)
I Am Legend has alot of headshots
Iron Man 3 and I knew it was directed by a different director than the first 2 because of this
Kiss of the Dragon
Mission Impossible 3 and the guy who directed the movie also directed Star Trek, which also had a close camera so apparently I was right
Piranha
Rush Hour 3
Storm of the Century has alot of head shots
The Amazing Spiderman 2 has Camera Crop, especially in the scene with Electro in Time Square. When the sign falls, the camera is literally right under it and I surprised it didn’t get crushed lol.
The Expendables
The Forbidden Kingdom
The Transporter has headshots
The Incredible Hulk
The Karate Kid (2010)
The Transporter 2 has close camera and bad editing
Walking Tall
What Dreams May Come c

38. Editing / Censoring
Here’s another quick post I wanted to throw in here. It was never something I paid attention to till in my later years of movie reviewing, but now I do. For the most part 90% of the movies I’ve seen are all edited the same, you know after the character blinks and stuff like that. I also talk about censoring, which is when people curse on tv or what’s cut out of a movie because of violence or something. I probably mentioned this in the Misc section so I won’t ramble too much, but here’s some stuff I wrote down in regards to editing:
3 lines or lessc
-Airplane vs Volcano has some quick editing especially in the scenes on the plane. They cut the camera like every 5 seconds. But this wasn’t that big of a deal cause it was a pretty cheap movie anyway.
-Carrie (especially the ending where she starts throwin stuff)
-Case 39 has fast editing, especially in scene where they lock the girl in the oven.
-Cradle to the Grave
-Dark Floors, especially in the scene where their in the parking lot towards the end.
-Final Destination is edited fast, especially in scene with the woman at the house who gets stabbed.
-Pacific Rim is edited fast, especially in the sword scene. They cut 3 times before she hits the ground.
-Pumpkinhead
-Silent Hill Revelation is edited fast especially in the ending fight.
-Sunshine is edited quickly during fight scenes and explosions.
-The Cabin in the Woods is edited fast, especially in the scene where one of the monsters meets them at the house. They cut to everybody’s face like 5 times in a row, gives me a headache.
-The Legend of Hercules, but this was a bad movie anyway.
-The Town that Dreaded Sundown
-The Maze Runner is cut sorta fast in some scenes.
-Splinter is edited fast. Most of the movie is normal but the moment the monster shows up, they swing the camera all over the place, which isn’t scary and annoying as fuck.
-Deep Blue Sea has fast editing, especially in the scene where the explosion happens and the chick falls into the water. They cut before she even hits the water lol.
-Godzilla 1954 has quick editing, especially in scene where he makes his first appearance over the hill. They cut the camera 3 times during his one growl and it just looks sloppy as hell.
-There’s also this show I watch call Lockup and there’s this one episode, where there’s the word boob written on the wall but they blur it out. But later you hear the dude say it but they don’t bleep it. They blur out the word but don’t bleed it, I thought that was weird.
-On Logo (which is a tv station) when Chucky gets burned in Child’s Play they mute the yelling but still show him getting burned. I guess seeing someone (or a doll) get burned is worse than hearing someone scream, who knows.
-The scene in MIB where K asks “Did he say when” is shortened by a couple seconds for time on Oxygen channel.
-Escape Plan with Arnold and Sly has shitty camera work and also has quick editing, especially in the shootout scene on the boat.
-I can’t remember what station I was watching this on, but I was watching Death Race on tv and they blur the curse words but still show the scene where the dude gets hit by the car lol.
-The Labyrinth is edited fast. I even read this on wiki, and one of the editors talked about how he and this other dude edits movies. He said he edits slowly while the other guy edits quickly, so apparently I was right.
-Resident Evil: Apocalypse has alot of quick cuts, almost as bad as Rise of the Apes: especially in the beginning where the chick with black hair first arrives, and the scenes where the guys are firing at the troops. It’s edited so fast is just takes the suspense out.
-One time I saw Terminator 2 on TNT and there’s a scene where Arnold pushes one of the cops into a wall after they rescue Sarah Connor. On TNT they edited the scene out cause I guess it was too violent, but there wasn’t even any blood lol.
-In reality shows, when characters walk at an angle, they wait a couple seconds to make it better to edit.
-On AMC Fearfest, they allowed Chucky to say “dick” in Childs Play 2 when he’s locked in the closet lol.
-Watching Panic Room on Oxygen: they cut out all the curse words but have no problem showing the scene where the guy gets shot in the head lol.
4 lines or more
-in one of Kat Williams’ specials, Kattapacalypse, they bleep the word nigger, as they should. But I saw another comedy special where they left the word in but bleeped all the curse words. To me, Nigger isn’t a curse but it’s a word I don’t like hearing, and I’m mixed. My dads white but my mom is black, but I still hate the word.
-The Neverending Story is edited quickly. And it sucks cause this is one of my favorite childhood movies. Certain scenes that stick out are the scenes where The Nothing starts breaking up the ground, they cut to the sky, then to Atreyu, then the sky. They do this so fast like 10 times in a row it just removes alot of the suspense. They also do it in the scene with the 2 twin female stone women. They just cut back and forth too much.
-There’s this show I watch called Jail, and I think it’s one of those low budget shows cause they only use 1 camera. So when you watch the show they’ll film people coming into the jail, but they’ll also film other random stuff like the floor and other people sitting down (I think they call this B-roll) but they do this so they can edit it in later. Cause normally with 2 cameras you can edit those 2 clips together, but with one, you have to use B-roll and other clips and put those in so it can flow. Like lets say you have a character talking for more than 3 mins. You don’t wanna have the camera on him the entire time, so you’ll have him talk for like 10 seconds, then you’ll cut to the B-roll footage then cut back to him.
-This other episode took place in Israel. I know how they edit the show and the tricks they use, especially when using only 1 camera. If their only using 1 camera they’ll film just the persons eyes so that when they edit it later, you just see them reacting and not their mouth cause it just flows better. But in Israel they were all speaking a different language so I don’t understand why they used this technique cause I mean, you can’t understand what their saying anyway.
-Rise of the Planet of the Apes has some pretty bad editing in certain spots, so bad that I just can’t watch the movie anymore. For example in the scene where the dude tries to get Caesar back in his cage, and they have that scene where their just staring at each other. The scene is cut so fast it just makes me cringe lol. The people that edited this movie also edited both the Terminator movies, but I can kinda tolerate those movies more.
-They allow N Word on Comedy Central during one of Chris Rock’s performances. I hate the word and think it should be banned. They also allowed the word during the movie Rush Hour on Fox. They bleeped every other curse word but didn’t bleep that word. They also bleep the N word on Kat Williams special.
-As a final note, I could never decide what annoyed me more, bad editing or bad camera work, but I finally have an answer. I think bad editing is more annoying to me than bad camera work. As bad as the camera-work is in Divergent, I can still watch it. But Rise of the Apes is edited so bad I can’t watch it anymore lol.
39. Old Footage
Here’s my last little list post that I’m gonna make before I get into the big stuff. It’s called Old Footage, and what I mean by this is movies that have scenes where the characters are watching old movies, sometimes Black & White movies. This kinda goes along with what I say below under war, immigration and hippies, and about how alot of the movies you see today were written by people who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s so they might wanna put in a clip or two of one of their favorite movies in there. It’s sort of like an Easter egg:
-Baby’s day out has footage of old film in scene towards the end with the old folks. And this makes sense cause alot of the people here are old.
-Bruce Almighty has old clip in the scene where he’s on the couch watching the black & white movie and the dude goes “You want the moon…”
-House of Wax has old footage in the scene at the theater.
-Prometheus has old footage in the beginning where the robot is watching tv.
-Rain Man has old footage in scene inside the house.
-Home Alone has old footage from a movie called Angels with Filthy Souls, which I’m guessing was one of John Hughes favorite movies.
-One Hour Photo has old footage in the scene where Robin is sitting home alone.
-Wall E has old footage in the scene where he’s watching the dancers. I’m pretty sure someone at Pixar was a fan of this movie growing up.
-Wonder Years has footage from old movies, which makes sense cause the show was based in the 60’s.
40. Tv Shows
Before getting to movies, I guess the first thing I can talk about is tv shows. I don’t watch alot of tv shows, or more specifically, sitcoms and stuff like that. Crime shows like CSI just bore me and even sitcoms are just unfunny and lame to me. The 4 main shows that I like now are all shows that I used to watch as a kid: Beavis and Butthead, Hey Arnold, The Three Stooges and The Wonder Years. I love them all for so many different reasons: some are just funny (like Beavis and Butthead and Three Stooges) but some are funny and emotional (like Hey Arnold and The Wonder Years) but there’s also alot of similarities that I found within these shows that I wanted to talk about:
1. Country Theme - All of these shows in some form or other, have some sort of country vibe or reference to the country. So alot of tv shows have big country themes in theme. My only guess is it’s easy for the people in the country to earn money, since the country is kind of a run-down place (no offense) And there aren’t alot of movies made there, their usually made in Florida or California, or New York City especially if it’s a big action movie. So anyway, in Beavis and Butthead (besides the main characters) alot of the people on the show have that worn-down dirty look, alot like people in the country. In Hey Arnold there’s a few episodes in the show where you see Grandma with a cowboy hat on and in one episode when he’s a baby, she calls him “Tex” and gets him to ride on her back like a horse, which I know is like a big country thing, riding horses.
c
In The Three Stooges, alot of the characters look and dress like country people. Alot of the episodes also have people wearing cowboy hats, riding horses, and some episodes take place in barnyards. I don’t watch Spongebob as much as I used to, but there’s also some country in that show. Sandy has a country accent and she’s always sayin “Ya’ll” lol. Also in the Bugs Bunny shows, the sheriff has the whole country thing going on with the hat and the cowboy boots. There’s also a show called Catdog that has all these country songs in it. I don’t watch it as much as I watch these shows, but at the end there’s also a photo of a guy with a cowboy hat on with a stick of grass in his mouth.
2. War, Immigration and Hippies - Along with the country vibe, another similar trait these shows have is the subject of war, immigration and hippies. I guess you have to remember that alot of these shows were written by people who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. Beavis and Butthead, Hey Arnold and Wonder Years for the most part, were shows that came out in the 80’s and 90’s. So lets say you have a writer on the show that’s atleast 20 years old, already that puts things in the 60’s and 70’s. He / She may have grown up in the 80’s but alot of the movies they saw was probably in the 60’s and 70’s (I talk alot about this in the 37. Old Footage topic in the Misc section)
So anyway, Beavis and Butthead has a bit of war, immigration and hippies in it: There’s one character on the show named Tom Anderson, and every now and again he’ll talk about being in the service. There’s also this one Cornholio episode where a cop comes by and he’s looking for illegal immigrants while Beavis is in the background doing his funny raging as Cornholio lol. There’s also an episode in the new shows that got aired around 2011 when they returned, where they snuck into the control room and bombed a bunch of immigrants. And in the Liar Liar episode, Beavis talks about foreigners. When it comes to hippies there’s a character named Vandresen who kinda has that hippie thing going on.
In Hey Arnold, they also have some of these qualities in the show: There’s a couple episodes (the Halloween and Thanksgiving episodes) where Helga’s dad brings up the fact that he was in the military, even putting the gear on to go look for his daughter. There’s also an episode where they have this family vs family competition, and he arrives with Helga in his army truck. I think that’s also how Arnolds grandparents came about, cause the writers felt more comfortable creating old characters cause alot of those writers (and this is just a theory of mine) heard stories of their grandparents in the war, and they could only write what they knew. It’s probably the same reason why Rugrats has an old character: Tommy’s Grandpa.
When it comes to immigration, I mean look at the Arnold house: You got an Asian (Mr Win) and you’ve got an Eastern European character (Oscar) This is just a theory but it’s safe to say this falls along the lines of immigration / people coming over from different countries and crossing the boarder. There’s also this one episode with Mr Win where he talks about living in a different country and giving his daughter up cause the environment he was in was too dangerous for her, referring to the war, famine and barely any food. And when it comes to hippies there’s this one character in a couple episodes who has those circular hippie glasses. There’s also an episode where Arnold and Gerald go to a school dance that has this 80’s inspired theme going on.
The Wonder Years also has a mixture of all 3 of these: In a few episodes Kevin’s dad talks about being in the war / core. My favorite episode is the one where Karen goes to college, and he gives her this bag of his that he had from the core. That episode always made me tear up lol. And when it comes to hippies, the show takes place in the late 60’s and there’s a couple episodes where they go to a school dance and they have the hippie outfits on. As for The Three Stooges, the show was so early on that there were no hippie episodes. But there were a couple episodes that were centered around the war. They still joked around and hit each other and stuff but I can’t help but think how serious it must’ve been for them.
Here’s some more random shit that I wrote down about these shows, some dealing with the similarities between them and some just being shit I wrote down over the years:
Hey Arnold & Wonder Years similarities
This is just a bunch of similarities I found between 2 of my favorite shows, Hey Arnold and Wonder Years that I wrote down and thought were interesting:
1. Terms - The girls in the show both use the term “I don’t like you-like you”
2. War - They both have Fathers in the war: Helga’s dad and Kevin’s dad.
3. Girls - Kevin and Arnold both flirt with girls.
4. Sports - Kevin and his friends play football in the street and Arnold and his friends play baseball in the street.
5. The Arnold name - Arnold in Hey Arnold and Kevin Arnold in Wonder Years.
6. Bar Mitzvah episode - Paul has an episode and so does Harold.
7. There’s a kid named Harold in the Faith episode.
8. There’s a kid named Harold in Mad Madeline World episode.
9. Space episodes - Wonder Years Faith and Hey Arnolds Sally’s Comet are space episodes.
Hey Arnold (general stuff I wrote down)
Now that I’m older I have a different take on these shows, and I can “read between the lines” alot more but I think alot of what I do is just theories. So anyway, I came up with this theory on Helga’s mom Miriam. We only see her in about 10 episodes throughout the entire show and whenever we see her she’s always tired or grumpy and not in the mood. One theory I came up with was that her character was written by someone who had abusive parents, but of course when they created her they kinda toned it down on a PG level so kids wouldn’t be creeped out, you know.
Cause one theory I had was Miriam’s parents weren’t good to her, and that’s why she grew up to be an alcoholic and that’s why she’s always tired lookin. And then her dad was in the military so you put those 2 characters together, you get someone like Helga, who is an understandable messed up spawn of her parents.
-I love watching Hey Arnold and watching the show progress, watching the dialogue get better, and the picture quality and the colors. Like Beavis and Butthead the earlier episodes are very rough but they get more refined and colorful as the season progresses.
-There’s this one episode with Dino Spumoni, who is a musician character. And alot of the music he makes looks like stuff from the 50’s. It goes along with what I said about hippies and the people that write this stuff are just writing about the music they’ve experienced growing up.
-Hey Arnold, Rugrats and Wonder Years also have some similarities. I mean you got the grandpa character, the father, the bully etc.
Beavis and Butthead (general stuff I wrote down)
-I like how they went from cell shader colors to deeper, sharper colors as the show progressed. The first couple seasons in the show had these very shady colors, but later in the show the colors got deeper and sharper.
-Mike Judge does the voice for 90% of the male characters. The only voices he doesn’t do are the ones for Stewart and those 4 dorks. You’d think with the money they earn from this show that they’d be able to hire more actors but whatever.
-The characters in the show have 4 fingers, but the characters in most other shows like Bugs Bunny and Hey Arnold have 3 and a thumb. I always wondered why, so I looked online for the answer. Alot of the answers I found said that drawing 3 fingers was just faster for the artists, but maybe the people on Beavis and Butthead were just either more talented or had more time on their hands (no pun intended lol) I personally don’t care either way, its just something I noticed. They also drew in their finger nails as well, but you can only see this in a couple upsides. You really see it in the Nose Bleed episode, where Butthead keeps punching Beavis in his nose. At one point he looks at his hands and you can see his fingernails and its more detailed than most shows.
The Wonder Years (general stuff I wrote down)
-The Producer, Writer and Director changes frequently from episode to episode. In some shows its usually just the writer, cause 1 writer can’t write everything. But in this show it was pretty much everybody lol. I also read somewhere Arnold’s parents (the original writers of the first season) left after Season 1 so maybe that’s why they had to scramble so much to get these episodes out in a certain time period.
-I was happy to hear Wonder Years was finally hitting dvd around late 2014. I know they had an issue with licensing all the old songs in the show. I was thinking what would happen if the artist died and then they could use them. I found this out on July 28th 2014 and I was so happy. No matter how old I get, these shows still make me feel young.
Rugrats (general stuff I wrote down)
-According to wiki, it takes the writers of Rugrats a few months to come up with 1 episode. But this has to be some sort of typo cause damn that’s long lol.
The Three Stooges (general stuff I wrote down)
Before I get into the random shit that I wrote down for this show, I just wanted to point something out. I bought the box set of the show and watched every single episode from start to finish. I think it took a couple weeks but it was draining as hell lol. The first episode was stranger cause Moe wasn’t really the boss yet, but the later ones were funny, atleast until Curly died. The ones with Shemp were funny too but after he died and Joe Besser came in, it just wasn’t as funny anymore:
3 lines or less
-The women get knocked over alot and hit with pies lol. Stuff like this would be deemed rude by today’s standards. I guess the women back then were tougher than the ones we see now.
-Alot of the effects are pretty impressive, given the lack of technology they had in those days. For example, the way they get stuff (like a cigarette) to land in someone’s mouth or to get the pool balls to move without cgi.
-There’s one scene where Larry gets powder thrown on him and I’m sure this inspired the scenes in Home Alone.
-Jackie Chan movie Mr Nice Guy (1997) has alot of 3 Stooges inspiration in it. Especially in scenes with him running from people, running in and out of the 4-5 doors, and the scene where someone appears behind him and he does that little yell lol.
-There’s an episode where their trying to fix the pipes, and water spills through the walls. I believe this definitely inspired the ending in the movie Mouse Hunt (1997)
-They use stunt doubles for certain things like climbing a ladder, climbing into bed, etc. Curly had a stunt double who wore a white wig.
-In The Three Stooges movie there’s a scene where they run through the hallway and into this room. Moe closes the door on Curly but he opens it, closes it and checks the bottom lol. I always thought the real Curly did that in the show but unfortunately he doesn’t.
-Moe only bites his brother’s nose and ear, never Larry. My only guess is cause their not related.
4 lines or more
-I forget what it’s called, but there’s this one episode where the 3 stooges baby-sit this baby. And at one point it crawls out the window. This instantly reminded me of Baby’s Day Out (1994) cause there’s a scene in that movie where the 3 guys also baby-sit a baby and it crawls out the window. The only difference here is we actually go outside with them. There’s also an episode where their outside on a pole hanging over the streets just like in that movie.
-There’s also some episodes they do over and over, but with different characters. For example first they do it with Curly and now they do it with Shemp. They reuse this mouse episode and one episode where Curly and Shemp fix the bathroom, and basically the same thing happens, except with a different person. They both also did the clone episode where Curly and Shemp have an older clone. They also did the same episode with mice. It’s like they ran outta ideas and / or wanted to see Shemp do the same thing, but its cool.
-They also re-filmed alot of the same episodes cause of the low budget: in one episode they use a potion to make this dude younger. Later, they use footage from the same episode except this time they don’t make him younger, they turn him into a gorilla. So they reshot about 2-3 mins of new footage, added it in then left the rest. But like I said its cool.
-The first episode without Curly is called Fright Night. It’s a boxing episode and the 3 of them (including Shemp) get chased around this warehouse. I can’t help but think this episode was around for a long time, but Curly couldn’t do much running around in his final episodes cause I heard he was sick, so they saved it. They still smack him around in the episodes before his death though. Then he appears in the episode on the plane for a couple seconds, doing his little snore. He has hair and he looks so different, but it was a nice cameo.
-After Curly died, they brought in Shemp. But after Shemp died they brought in another character, Joe Besser who’s very feminine and unfunny. His phrase was always “not so hard” which never made me laugh. And even though it wouldn’t be called 3 Stooges if it was just Larry and Moe, they would’ve been better off by themselves and without anybody else besides Curly and Shemp. I also read on wiki, Besser didn’t wanna get hit by Moe. So instead he gets his head bopped, and a slap on the forehead. I’d slap this guy just for being unfunny lol.
-As the series goes on, we see more close-up shots of the stooges and from different angles, cause their usually shot just from the front (lots of old movies were shot this way, given the lack of technology and the fact that they couldn’t move the camera that much) For example in the old episodes they’ll throw an apple, but the camera will stay where it’s at. But in the later episodes when they’d thrown an apple, the camera will cut to a close-up of their body.
Other shows
-In regards to other tv shows, I have respect for The Simpsons, but Family Guy on the other hand can kiss my ass.
-Teen Mom is in 720p cause their going for that dramatic look.
-Judge Judy is in 720p as well cause its really just a court show and doesn’t need to look that good.
-I didn’t mention this above but there’s also a war theme in the Puppetmaster movies, and some of the movies take place in the country.
41. Bates Motel
Here’s the last show I wanna talk about that premiered around March 2013 that I watched called Bates Motel. And it looked okay, but the only reason I watch it was cause one of my favorite actresses was in it, Vera Farmiga. She’s just so beautiful and sweet, I just really wanted to see her. I mean she was reason enough to watch the show, every single episode too. I even reviewed the entire first season to the best of my abilities, just for her. And I tried my best to pay attention to all these little details and stuff, trying to make sense out of what I wrote, and I think I did okay. It was also funny watching Norman trying to act tough with all his cringe-worthy expressions too lol.
So anyway, I reviewed the entire first season, and it took alot out of me. Now when I heard about the second season, I was also pretty excited. But at the same time I wasn’t ready to review it. It premiered last year (2014) right around the same time the first season premiered, and I watched every episode. It was still kinda hard to follow but I watched it cause of Vera. It was also alot darker than the first season, cause it got more into that whole story between Dylan being her brothers son and how there was some incest going on, and I’m not getting into all that lol. I think even if I tried to review the season, I probably would’ve skipped over that stuff. I think I just drained myself with the first season anyway.
I mean it premiered in March, around the time I was still doing movie reviews / trying to find movies that entertained me. So I was doing this and movies, so it was very overwhelming. But as overwhelming as it was I’m still glad I did it, and it’s one of the things I’m most proud of on this site. I also didn’t think my review of Season 2 would’ve topped Season 1 cause at that point, alot of the mystery in the show was kinda gone. And I think that gives alot of weight to what I do, not just for tv shows but for movies: I don’t review something unless either the movie is very interesting, or I feel I can talk about it. Especially now, I try not to review shit unless I know I can talk about it in length, or I’ll just give it a short review.
The first episode was cool though, and I noticed alot of new things that weren’t in the first season:
1. New camera angles - it still takes place near the Motel but atleast to me, the motel was always shot from this one angle in the front. Now whenever we see it its shot from all these different angles.
2. Vera had a new blonde hairstyle. And it looked pretty cute, and it really brought out her eyes.
3. The locations were brighter and you could see the sun more, which made her hairstyle stand out more. The entire first season was mostly dark and shot at night, but for this season the first episode was in the sun. Also alot of the scenes were shot outside, whereas in the first season alot of it took place inside the house or in the motel, where it was dark. There’s also a scene in a grocery store, so again, new locations. I guess its cause after the success of the first season, they were able to increase the budget and use that money to really bring the sets to life. It kinda reminds me of Rocky, cause the first movie didn’t have a big budget, and then after it was a hit, they used the money to get better sets and stuff.
Curse of Chucky was the same way, cause that movie only had a $5 million budget, so 90% of the movie took place inside. The few shots that we did get outside the house were pretty short. So anyway, the first episode was pretty cool as well. There was this one scene I wanted to point out though, where Vera has this courtroom scene. She’s having this debate with all these court people and at one point, she gets up and goes “You’re a dick” lol. What surprised me was that they didn’t bleep the word at all, but I’m not sure if that’s normal or not cause like I said, I don’t watch tv shows that much. They later bleeped in later episodes that aired so I’m glad I caught it on day 1. I also saw this one interview with Vera on youtube. It was this long interview where this dude asked her all these questions about the show.
And she was giving all these long, very detailed answers and you really got the feeling she knew her character from back to front. But at one point, he asks about her favorite episode. And she thinks for a moment and says the later episodes are her favorite, cause she says “tonally it shifts” and at first I didn’t understand what she meant, but I think I do now. Cause I remember there were a few episodes where she was calm and then she’d just lash out randomly at certain characters. For example in this one scene where she’s in the office room next to the motels, and the cop comes in and they talk about something. At the end of the scene she looks sad and helpless cause she doesn’t know what to do. But as the scene ends, she randomly comes out the door and goes (and I’m paraphrasing cause I can’t remember the exact quote) “What like if he comes back and sticks another dead corpse in my bed!” lol.
And the cop turns and looks at her kinda funny. So yea, I gave myself a pat on the back for that one. It’s nice listening to interviews sometimes, cause you get behind the character and into the actor / actresses mind a little, and you see their mentality. Season 3 premiered right around the same time as the previous 2 seasons, and like always I watched it. And Vera is still as pretty as ever. One thing I realized now is that her name says she’s the producer of each of the episodes. I never realized this with the previous seasons, probably cause its not something I pay attention to. If anything I’ll pay attention to writer and director but that’s it. Cause still to this day I don’t really know what a producer does, but my guess is they control the show or something.
But its cool that she’s the producer, and again you really get the feeling she’s into the character and invested enough to do something like that. And the people who wrote the show trust her with those decisions. And like with Season 2, these episodes are so much more serious and I don’t think I could handle that in the review. I guess the last thing I wanted to mention is how Vera and another actress on the show Olivia Cook are both in paranormal movies: Vera was in The Conjuring and Olivia is in the Quiet Ones (and recently Oija) so now all we need to do is stick Norman in a paranormal movie and we’re all set lol. There’s also this one scene in the Season 3 finale where Vera hits Norman in the head with a lamp. I couldn’t stop laughing, put that dork to sleep lol.
Last but not least, Movie Update Part II where I mostly talk about movie reviewing and all the new movies that’ve come out since 2013. Alot of this stuff is pretty old but I’ve updated it as much as I could, all the way up till June 2015.
42. Movie Reviewing
It’s June 2015 and my last review was in July 2013. The last big movie I did was Evil Dead, which at that point was the last real horror movie to come out. Before that I was constantly watching movies on-demand and renting movies from the library, trying to find ones that interested me. But eventually it was getting boring cause the more and more movies I watched, the more and more boring it became, especially since I was renting all these stupid paranormal movies (on accident) that I didn’t even watch the trailers for (Insidious for example, which was my fault, fuck that movie lol)
But eventually I had to stop, cause I was driving myself crazy lol. This was around July, same month Evil Dead hit dvd. And after I bought it, I kinda used it as a placeholder: Whenever I felt I was done, it was always gonna be the last big movie I did before I took a break. Before that, the last movie I did was The Unborn (2009) which I got from the library. It was one of those shitty movies, and after that I did my last 3 movies: Upside Down, Texas Chainsaw and Evil Dead, and I think I ended it pretty well, and went out with a bang like I said I would. And ever since then I’ve been thinking of coming back, but only if I was gonna do bigger movies.
I don’t have the time or the patience to just choose random movies anymore, or waste time going to the library and just picking movies off the shelf. Especially after doing Evil Dead, the movies I do now have to either be just as good, or better, I can’t go for any middle-ground, especially after doing 500 movies. So I made a list of all the movies I wanted to do, and I split em up into little brackets. And I was nervous, but thankfully after over a year I came back and still wrote as good as I used to. I was nervous but I guess that’s what made me work even harder. As of writing this my last review was The Maze Runner, and it was a pretty big movie, atleast by today’s standards.
But I enjoyed coming back and doing all those big movies, and at this point I’m gonna keep it that way. At this point there aren’t alot of movies out there post-2015 that I wanna see and / or do a giant review for. Alot of the new movies that I didn’t do a big review on, I instead did a small review on in the one paragraph section, which is actually one of my favorite sections. It gave me a chance to write a little something about movies that I sorta like but couldn’t discuss in length. When it comes to the big movies, I honestly didn’t know which one would be my favorite cause as lame as Hollywood is right now, I knew that they were gonna be good, and I knew I chose them for a good reason.
And as much I love Godzilla with all my heart, I think my favorite review was probably Divergent (2014) Cause even with the shitty camera-work where he kept pointing the thing towards the ground, that movie and the songs that were in it, were pretty neat. And I swear I think about the movie all the time. It comes on cable about twice a week now and everytime I watch it, it feels like I’m watching it for the first time, which is a feeling I don’t get from alot of movies. I also noticed something new a couple days ago (early June 2015) that I didn’t include in the review. I never understood why the guys name was Four, but its pretty obvious now: his names Four cause he wants to embody all 4 of those groups: Dauntless and those other 3.
He even reveals this in a later scene where he shows Tris his tattoo’s. I wanted to smack myself so hard for not picking up on that but I guess the reason why I didn’t pick up on this is cause I always referred to him as James Franco’s twin lol. There was also another thing I saw, that I wanted to bring up. It’s not the biggest deal in the world, nor does it hurt the movie in any way, but I wanted to bring it up cause it was interesting. In the beginning of the film there’s a scene where Tris runs onto the train where she meets Christina for the first time. But 5 seconds later, if you look at her legs, their crossed, which is what you do when you’re relaxed. It’s weird cause she just got done running after the train and she’s all outta breath but 5 seconds later her legs are crossed, so now she’s relaxed lol.
But anyway, at this point I haven’t seen Insurgent but I’m anxious to get my hands on that one, and maybe even add it to the list of future reviews *wink* *wink* But in doing all these movies, I also saw and realized a pattern. A majority of the movies I’ve done have very big themes in them: Godzilla is the first movie to come to mind, cause that movie has tons of themes. When I was younger I saw it as just a monster movie, but now that I’m older I can really see all the layers that it has. It’s really a movie about society, and how we treat the planet. But it’s not just Godzilla, alot of the other movies I’ve done had to do with society as well, and how people of different races would react to certain things: Divergent, Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, and The Maze Runner to name a few.
They also all have people of different races in there, like Asians, Mexicans and Indian people. A majority of the cast is always white, but every now and then you’ll see an Asian person or an Indian dude. I think they do this so that the movie can be relatable for anyone who sees it. Cause when these movies come out, their usually released worldwide, mostly in the US where most of the people are white. Another similarity I found was that alot of these characters parents die: in Divergent Tris loses both her mother and father, in Man of Steel, Clark doesn’t even know his real parents, in Pacific Rim, the Asian chick has been by herself since she was a little girl, though its debatable since we never see her parents killed. But you get the idea here, alot of these characters parents either died or went missing somehow.
-I don’t know if this means anything, but Harry Potter’s Goblet of Fire has a scene with a maze in it. And Harry Potter and some of these movies like Divergent and Maze Runner deal with the same subjects: teenagers who don’t know who they are and are faced with challenges.
I just love reviewing movies, point blank. Ever since I started reviewing them sometime in late 2010 / early 2011 I just couldn’t stop. Before that I was writing stories, until that got boring and now I’m doing this. But at some point you have to know when to stop, and I think I do. I don’t consider myself a blogger or a journalist or anything like that. I just write what I see and write what I know, and I say how I feel. And I don’t ever wanna take this writing thing for granted. So anyway here’s a bunch of random shit I bulleted up in regards to movie reviewing:
- For some reason I don’t get headaches anymore, no matter how long the review is. I still get up like every 10 mins just to walk around for a bit, until I sit back down and continue typing the review. Its pretty stressful trying to picture and discuss every scene in a movie having only seen it twice but I do it cause I love it.
-Writing stories vs reviewing movies: I used to never have an answer to this question, but I do now, and I like movie reviewing better. Ever since I started I haven’t went back to writing stories since, even though I constantly think about it. Sometimes I’ll skim over the documents that I’ve written but I never open em. I mean I’m proud of what I’ve written and I’ll never delete them, but I might go back to them in the future. I still remember exactly where I left off on my 3rd story, but I had no clue where to go next, but right now I don’t really care.
-I usually write my reviews alone, when my mother is at work cause she bugs me alot lol. The only review I ever wrote while she was home was Orphan (2009) cause I knew that was one movie I felt I needed to do, regardless if she was up or not. I remember she was in the hallway next to my room when I was doing it, and I kept praying she didn’t come in my room and bug me. I think later on she went to bed but thank goodness she did lol. I also did Resident Evil Retribution (which was a bad review) when she was home. And I think it was easier cause with bad reviews I’m just so hype and I type alot faster, so I don’t even think I was thinkin about her.
-I’m glad I’m not an ass kisser or a puppet, and I don’t latch on / review every single movie (or horror movie) that comes out. To me that gives alot of weight to who I am as a writer. Cause regardless of how big my site is, every movie I do, I do with a reason. And especially for long reviews, if I can’t fill a paragraph with reason why I chose a certain movie, then it isn’t worth doing. That’s one reason why I decided not to do Bates Motel Season 2, not only cause alot of the mystery was lost, but cause I didn’t feel as though I could give it my all the way I did with Season 1.
-I also still feel pretty lucky to have done some of the movies I’ve done so far, cause some of em are either hard to find or don’t even come on tv anymore: movies like Black Sheep, Frozen, Let Me in, etc are some movies that I just couldn’t wait to see, and thankfully they all came on cable / on-demand at some point. Nowadays they don’t even come on tv anymore. Let Me in comes on like once a year now and Frozen and Black Sheep don’t even come on at all, so I got really lucky.
-Long reviews are good cause it forces you to pay attention to every scene. And when you pay attention to everything, only then can you have a valid opinion on it. Some guy who’s seen 20 minutes of a certain movie might have a pretty negative view on it if he only saw a tiny bit of it. But if you ask a person who’s seen the entire movie and knows all of what happens and actually paid attention, then they might have a different viewpoint.
43. Movies (general)
This is just a bunch of random shit I jotted down about movies over the last year. Some of it is just random shit I read and some of it is trivia and behind the scenes stuff I think is cool. Alot of it is pretty random so I’m just gonna keep them in bullet-points:
3 lines or less
-Somebody who’s 40 years old makin fart jokes and penis jokes is weird to me. But someone that old makin horror movies would be considered a badass to me lol.
-Shitcase Cinema is also runnin outta movies and hasn’t been posting much. Like me, I think he’s just running out of interesting stuff to do.
-I love back-story, which is something I added in alot of when I first began writing stories. So when I see a movie with alot of back-story, regardless of how boring it may be I always have a thing for it: Hulk is a good example of a boring movie with back-story.
-I hate when 2 good movies are on tv at the same time, and I gotta quickly flip through both movies so I won’t miss all the good scenes lol.
-People constantly suing James Cameron over Avatar and Titanic are stupid. Some chick also sued the people who made Frozen cause the story was based off her life. People will do anything for money lol.
-Tom Hanks gained 50 pounds for Cast Away, lost the weight and grew a beard. Why not film all those scenes first, then use a fake beard lol. I’m sure he had a fake beard in Forest Gump (don’t know for sure cause I hate that movie and don’t feel like reading up on it)
-Snatch and Requiem for a Dream are both shot the same way, with alot of fast-cuts. But these cuts are done on purpose, not by bad editors like the ones from Rise of the Apes.
-Jennifer Connelly gets her house taken away in 3 of her movies: Hulk, Sand and Fog, and Dark Water. In Labyrinth she doesn’t get her house taken but she leaves her house to find her brother.
-When it comes to movie length, movies are like rubber bands: you can only stretch them so much until they snap. Bad movies are like a weak rubber band. The longer you stretch it, the quicker it will break cause it already sucks lol.
-I think I mentioned this too either in this document or in 1 of the others, but Vera Farmiga, Jennifer Connelly and Jodie Foster all have mother daughter roles.
4 lines or more
-In the Rain Man trivia, they gave Tom Cruise a Russian gf so he’d have to explain everything to her, sort of how he does with Raymond. They call it “exposition” but it really got me thinkin about other movies that do this. Edward Scissorhands is a good example, causes Edward and his hands (atleast to everybody else) is kinda bizarre, but you have this woman who isn’t bothered by his weirdness and she goes up there and befriends him. Adrian from Rocky is sorta like that too, cause she’s so shy and hates fighting while Rocky is very talkative and loves to fight. You just gotta have 2 characters that compliment each other, which I think makes a pretty good movie.
-During the making of The Labyrinth (1986) they showed that one scene where Sara runs back home when it begins to rain. But you see dudes in the background with water hoses for the rain. I actually thought they chose a rainy day for that scene, cause even to this day I never understood how they make rain. I’m still reading up on it to this day and haven’t found a clear answer though. I think sometimes its digital effects and sometimes they use a hose, but this movie came out in 86 so the technology probably wasn’t that good yet.
-I wanted to make a blog about movies that weren’t screened for critics. Cause from what I’ve seen and read, alot of movies that aren’t screened for critics end up being bad movies. People do this cause they don’t want early reviews to sabotage whether or not people see the movie, cause some people do see movies that have good reviews. I know The Devil Inside wasn’t screened for critics and that movie flopped. Me personally I don’t pay attention to reviews before I see a movie, and I don’t let reviews dictate which movies I see. I mean at this point I’ve already seen just about everything out there so there isn’t much that impresses me anymore. The only thing that makes me wanna see a movie depends on how good the trailer looks.
-Billy Crystal says he spent 5 ½ hours in his 4th session for Monsters University. The movie is almost 2 hours long (nowhere close to 5 hours, let alone for 1 session) and that’s if there was 1 character and he talked throughout the entire movie without any breaks. But it adds up to about 20 hours: alot of work for an animated movie, and he probably had to redo alot of his lines. Or maybe he was just referring to being in the studio for 5 ½ and recording for an hour, I don’t know.
-When it comes to voice actors, some sound like the characters they play when they normally talk and some don’t. Dan C who plays Homer Simpson doesn’t sound anything like him when he’s using his normal voice. Mike Judge doesn’t sound like any of his characters on Beavis and Butthead. But Tom Kenny does sound like Spongebob at times when he talks, just in a deeper voice.
-It’s okay to screw something up, cause when you come back and do it right, its worth it: Rocky is a good example of this. I loved Rocky V but I know alot of fans don’t like it cause he didn’t fight in the ring. So he screwed that movie up, but he came back with Rocky Balboa and probably ended it better than any of the other movies, even the first one. Another good example is the Chucky movies. I loved Bride, but I think most Chucky fans hated Seed lol. But he came back and made Curse which again, is probably just as good as the first movie. The last example is Godzilla. They kinda messed up the 1998 version but came back with the new one in 2014 and that one was slightly better. Basically there’s no “Finally” without a “Fuck up”
-Sometimes the imdb score matches the rotten tomatoes score, but sometimes it doesn’t. I think this is interesting cause it shows that what fans like and what critics like can be so far from each other. For example Titanic’s imdb score is 7.7 and its rotten tomatoes score is 88% and that’s pretty close. But Transcendence has a score of 6.3 yet its rotten score is 19% lol.
-Freddy vs Jason and Titanic both use a different camera for underwater scenes. I remember first seeing this in Freddy vs Jason, when Freddy gets his head cut off and it floats down the water. When we see the shot of his head, we see these black bars on the left and right side of the screen. I forget where and when we see the black bars in Titanic but I know their there when they go underwater. The underwater camera they use must have black bars on it.
-When it comes to watching films in HD I don’t mind it, but I’d never buy a blu ray for a movie review cause then it’s like I’m watching the movie just for the visuals. I might play a game just for visuals, but I’m the exact opposite when it comes to movies. I have no problem watching / reviewing a movie in HD if it’s on cable or on-demand but I’d never buy a film on blu ray for a review. I didn’t even know what blu ray was in 2009 before I saw Legion lol. This is just to give you an idea of how important story is to me in movies.
-Movies that are timeless / don’t look their year. What I mean by this, is movies that when you first look at them, you can barely tell what year they were made if you ignored the picture quality: Rocky is a good example of this. Cause atleast in my opinion, they don’t really dress like their in the 70’s and there aren’t really alot of characters with afros. In the later movies like Rocky 3 and 4 you definitely have alot of 80’s inspiration in there though. The Shining is another good example I think. I mean in the beginning you can see people with bellbottoms and stuff but later in the movie, alot of their clothing is pretty natural.
-Media is getting younger - This is just a theory of mine, but what I mean by this, is actors, artists and WWE wrestlers are getting younger, more specifically though, the top guys are getting younger. If you look at movies, alot of the top guys were older guys like Stallone, Arnold, Bruce Willis, etc. Now alot of the top male actors / box office draws are people like Channing Tatum and Shailene Woodley. No bullshit when I think of top actors, I don’t even think of people I just think of movies that get spammed on my tv, and most of em are either lame romances or Marvel movies. But still, unless it’s a Marvel movie, alot of the movies that come out now have young people in em.
When it comes to artists, back in the 90’s it was dominated by people like Mariah, Whitney, and Rappers like DMX, Busta and Jay-z. Now it’s mostly dominated by people like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, people half their age. There aren’t even alot of big rappers out right now (atleast that I know of) cause alot of em just make mixtapes now. And when it comes to WWE, the top title holders used to be big, older guys like Austin, Rock, and Triple H. Now you got guys like CM Punk (who’s now retired) and Daniel Bryan. Everybody is just getting younger, and smaller lol.
-Promotion - For me, promotion doesn’t really bother me. But when I see 1 thing getting promoted more than another, it kinda makes me angry. The big thing was seeing that stupid movie The Fault in Our Stars getting more promotion than Godzilla when they were both getting released around the same time. They also played the trailer for Blended more than the Godzilla movie, even though that movie flopped. Stuff like that irritates the fuck outta me. And then of course, another thing that irritates me is people on youtube who beg for subscribers, which I guess goes along with promotion. To me if you’re constantly begging someone to follow your channel you’re in it for the wrong reasons, and that’s why I don’t beg anybody to come here. I’m gonna do what I do regardless and I’m gonna be me.
It also irritates me when you’re constantly promoting something I don’t like. You can promote something all you want but if the person doesn’t like it, your not gonna change their mind and your just gonna anger them even more. A good example of this, is let’s say you’re promoting Pepsi. You can talk about Pepsi all you want and show me the little commercials all you want, but regardless, if I don’t like Pepsi I’m not gonna drink it, no matter how much you promote it. It actually has the opposite effect and you just make people hate the product even more. Some things don’t even need to be promoted. Look at GTA V. The people who made that game barely do any interviews and the trailer didn’t even come on tv, but that game made $1 billion in 3 days lol.
And look at Beyonce (who I hate) She put her new 2013 album online, and it still generated buzz, even though it wasn’t really marketed like everybody else. It just goes to show that certain things don’t need to be promoted.
-Core and Surroundings - What I mean by this, is looking at a product by itself and looking at a product and judging it based off what came before or after it. Curse of Chucky is a good example of this. I mean at its core it’s an okay movie. But if you look at it’s surroundings (and especially the movie that came before it, Seed) then you kinda appreciate it more for the fact that they brought the movie back to its core and its roots. Another good example is the Godzilla movie. And even that movie (besides Elizabeth Olsen of course) was just okay. But it stands out a little more if you look at the American version than came before it, which was basically a sequel to Jurassic Park lol.
Evil Dead is another good example for me personally. Cause at the time of it coming out, I was kinda done with reviewing movies and when I saw the trailer, I knew it’d be my last review cause it just looked like an actual horror movie. It wasn’t any of this found footage bullshit. But let’s say that there were 10 other horror movies coming out around the same time, some okay looking, but some even better looking than Evil Dead. I can guarantee you that Evil Dead wouldn’t have stood out that much, cause it was really just a regular movie. The only reason it stands out is cause it was surrounded by alot of other bullshit films.
-Types of Sequels - Everybody knows what a sequel is: basically a continuation of a certain product either because there’s more of the story to tell or you’re trying to cash-in off a certain product *cough* Transformers *cough* But there isn’t just one type of sequel, so here are the types of sequels that I’ve been able to come up with:
1. Milk the cow: movies like Saw, Elm Street, Friday the 13th and Paranormal Activity are good examples of this. The first movie does well and then they just milk the movies until there’s nothing left / and or don’t make alotta money. Most of the time there isn’t even more of the story to tell, it just becomes about money.
2. 3-4 years: movies like Rocky, where the sequel has 3-4 years in between which I think is fair and gives them enough time to write something decent.
4. 10+ years / Nostalgia: Dumb and Dumber To, Mrs Doubtfire 2 (RIP Robin) and Beetlejuice 2 are 3 good examples of this, sequels that are done just for nostalgia’s sake and not really for a box office hit. To me, these ones have alot more longevity.
-Dubbing vs Bleeping - What I mean by this, is when they show movies on tv where they have to edit out profanity and stuff. Bleeping is when they bleep the curse word and dubbing is when they have someone (who sounds like the actor) dub their voice over theirs and replace it with like a PG phrase or something. Like if their saying “I’m so fucking pissed at him” when it’s dubbed over they might say “I’m so flipping pissed at him” or something like that.
Bleeping is pretty annoying cause I hate the sound it makes, but dubbing can sometimes be kinda funny. I mean I’m not a good lip-reader but I can tell when someone’s voice is being dubbed, even if I’ve never seen the movie before, cause the words they use don’t match the lip movement and it looks so funny lol. I’d rather them just mute the curse words, if anything.
-Rewrites - I kinda like rewrites, and what I mean by this is the writer either adding someone to a show and writing them in like they were meant to be there, or writing someone out of a show. For example, when Batista returned to WWE they wrote him in and put him with HHH and Orton and did Evolution again for a little bit. But when he left, they wrote him out by just having him leave the ring. It’s difficult sometimes cause not everybody knows the real reason so you gotta kinda make it look real, like he was meant to leave.
Another good example is lets say it’s a sitcom or something. And lets say you have this girl, and she gets pregnant one month. At that point you can either write her out the show, or you could add her pregnancy to the script and kinda play it off so it goes along with the story. Cause sometimes the audience knows she’s pregnant but sometimes they don’t but regardless, its stuff like this that I think is cool.
-I’ve never seen this movie (atleast up until this point) but I read this in the trivia section. There’s a scene in V for Vendetta with the dominoes, where they get pushed and it goes around this huge circle around the room and all. But it wasn’t done using CGI, which I found surprising. I watched the scene for the first time on youtube and it was pretty cool and there’s like 5,000 of em. In 2005 they definitely had the technology to do it digitally, so I’m wondering what the purpose was. But I’ll definitely give em respect for doing something like that the practical way cause if you mess that up you gotta stand em all up again lol.
-I noticed this after seeing Requiem for a Dream: Jennifer Connelly is in a tub in 3 of her movies: Requiem (where she yells underwater) House of Sand and Fog (where she takes the pills) and Dark Water (where she gives her daughter a bath and at the end, tries to rescue her from being drowned by the evil clone) She also loses her house in 4 movies: In House of Fog her house is foreclosed, in Hulk we see her in Bruce’s old, deserted house, in Dark Water her house is falling apart, and in Labyrinth she leaves her house to find her little brother (I think I mentioned this somewhere above, forgive me)
44. New Movies (horror)
This is basically where I’m gonna store all the random shit I’ve seen / heard about all the new horror movies. I honestly don’t even feel like talking about it so I’m just gonna leave it in note form, but I’m sure you already know how I feel about the horror genre at this point. The horror genre is basically over at this point, cause nobody is original anymore and most (if not all) of the horror movies that come out, either get shitty ratings or fail at the box office. Unless of course you’re James Wan, but to me even his movies suck ass and their basically the same thing every time: based off a true story paranormal bullshit.
Another thing that irritates the fuck outta me is especially for the new horror movies, they use these stupid jump scare trailers. Like they’ll show footage from inside the theater, which I think is lame as fuck. To me that’s just very whorish and very thirsty, like you need us to see other peoples reactions in order for convince us to see it. It’s kinda like putting out a comedy movie and showing us all the people who laughed at it, which I think is lame. And Hollywood is so lame at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually did that. Don’t shove stuff down our throats, cause if I see you doing it I’m just not gonna see the movie, straight up.
The horror genre is over, and it really went downhill after Insidious came out. Now everybody sees that and now they all wanna be lazy and make this cheap found footage bullshit, or those haunted house movies where people sit around a table and try to talk to ghosts like fuckin retards, I don’t have time for that shit. As of 2010 the only big horror movies to come out were probably Cabin in the Woods and Evil Dead, everything else was bullshit. When I say I’m a fan of horror movies, what I’m really saying is I’m really just referring for a couple movies that were actually scary, like Jeepers Creepers. So I don’t want you to think I’m talkin about any of the bullshit films that came out in the last 5 years or so.
The horror genre has actually gone through alot of phases: In the 90’s and up until the late 90’s it was just straight-up horror, then Scream came out and alot of movies took the horror-comedy route, like Bride of Chucky. The 2000’s was okay, and you had a couple shaky camera movies like Blair Witch and Cloverfield but not many (nowadays that’s all people ever do) and then James Wan comes along with Insidious and then The Conjuring, now we’re just in this bullshit era where people will film anything no matter how lazy and dumb it looks, and that ladies and gentlemen, is why I am pretty much done with the horror genre. If we’re lucky we might get 1-2 films every once in awhile but that’s it.
But its cool though, cause I still enjoy the old movies I grew up with. And its cool cause it actually got me into other movies. At this point there’s alot of new non-horror movies coming out that are pretty interesting, and I name all of them down below in the New Movies (other) section. This section is just for all the new horror movies that I saw. So anyway here’s a bunch of random shit that I wrote down:
3 lines or less
-I don’t know what I hated more, zombie movies or found footage movies. I think I hate zombie movies more cause their not scary, but found footage movies can be funny at times. Zombie movies are alot like porn, cause you never really pay attention to how lame the story is.
-At one point I heard the Conjuring was getting 3 sequels, what the fuck lol.
-Their working on Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. They said they don’t wanna rush the movie but it will be done at some point. I have no idea what Army of Darkness is but as long as it’s not anything found footage-ish we should be good.
-Deliver us from Evil uses “theater scares” lol. It’s such a cheap way to get attention. It’s the equivalent to showing a comedy movie and showing us the people laughing in the theater.
-They said Annabelle was the biggest horror film of the year, which isn’t saying much since there were barely any horror movies that came out and the ones that did were complete shit! Nice work, James Wannabe, or Wannabelle lol.
-James Wan is releasing Saw 10th anniversary, like I give a shit.
-Poltergeist remake looks just like The Conjuring, which I only watched half of cause it was so fuckin boring. But atleast the toys come to live and attack people, so it sorta looks cool.
-ign did a review of Poltergeist, said it had good jump-scares. Grow some balls lol. They also said “prepare for the scariest movie this summer” lol. They could’ve made any other movie, but they decided to do Poltergeist cause it looks just like the shit they usually put together.
-I’d rather watch 5 bad horror movies with bad acting than 1 paranormal / found footage movie and I’d rather watch 5 bad paranormal / found footage movies than 1 zombie movie, especially if it’s something George Romero had any involvement in cause his movies suck ass.
-There’s a new movie called Unfriended, and they call it “a new kind of horror” uh no its not, its still the same shaky-camera found-footage bullshit we’ve been sitting through the past 10 years, nice try bruh.
-Before I Wake trailer looks pretty cool. Of course, it takes place inside a house just like the rest of the bullshit horror movies that come out but, it looks really interesting.
-Any horror movie I haven’t done a review on yet, trust me I’ve seen the trailer for it. Most of em are paranormal and shitty lol. Blair Witch and Cloverfield are the only 2 movies that did it right, the rest of these movies are just lame rip-offs and can kiss my ass.
4 lines or more
-The trailer for The Gallows was lame, chick crying on the floor, gets yanked away by some rope. Here’s some youtube comments that I read:
“I am so sick and tired of these POV/Camcorder/Found Footage horror films... Pass.”
“The beginning of the trailer got me, it was very suspenseful. But my gosh stop it with the found footage. The ending ruined it for me because it was a cliche.”
LMAO!
-James Wan is producing another horror movie called Demonic and Crawlspace even though he said he was done with horror. He said “Hollywood likes to put you in this box” well if your doing more horror movies your putting yourself right back in that box, moron. I saw the trailer for it around late April 2015 and the first shot of the trailer basically summed it up for me, a bunch of retards sittin on a floor. Here’s some youtube comments that I wrote down, and some of em were the highest voted:
“Shitty jump scares, bad sound on jump scares, bad actors, bad music, typical tropes. This movie contains everything for a flop horror movie!”
“I'm pretty sure I watched this already. It was call, "Every horror movie ever, ever, ever."
“I swear horror movies are always the same, you never see anything different. :(”
And I agree with all of em!
-James Wan is making another horror movie, which is a remake (the word remake drives me crazy) of some old movie called The Entity. I didn’t know what it was at first, so I watched the trailer for the original and it was basically what I thought it was, basically more paranormal bullshit where something is wrong with the house and stuff shakes. I’m not watchin that shit.
-I heard their making a new Friday the 13th movie, the 13th in the series. I always wondered why they didn’t make a sequel to the one that came out in 2009 cause that one was cool, and it was way better than the fuckin Freddy remake. They made the old Friday movies every year I don’t see how making a sequel was so hard. It was way cooler than the stupid Freddy remake, oh my lord that movie was shit. Jackie Earl Haley can’t act for shit either. I don’t mind remakes in general, as long as the director has good intentions. I just haven’t seen alot of good remakes and I guess that’s why I look down upon them. I also heard they were gonna add a “found footage” element in the film, which I would hate to see.
But around Feb 2015 it was confirmed on ign that the new Friday 13th movie won’t be found footage, thank god. But the fact that they even had to confirm this just baffles me. The found footage genre is in the shitter right now and isn’t even unique anymore. If I were the director I would’ve been like “Why are Friday the 13th and found footage even in the same sentence? You fans actually think we’d do that lol”
-The Pyramid movie uses theater scares as well. In the “jump scare” trailer, one dude said he’s never seen anything like it. Are you sure, cause movies like that make up about 90% of the fuckin horror genre idiot. You must’ve been sleeping under a rock for the past 10 years. But its nice to know The Pyramid flopped and it has a 7% on rotten tomatoes lol. I’m always happy when a movie gets a lower score than Legion.
-Oija got bad reviews, and has a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was produced by Michael Bay lol. I really don’t understand this guy at all. He makes billions off these lame ass Transformers movies, then he takes 5-6 million and makes these lame little crappy ghost movies, who the fuck does that.
-Money / greed is killing the world. People cared too much about money in regards to Michael, and that’s why he died cause they made him do too many shows. And people care too much about money in film, and that’s why we’re getting so many bullshit found footage movies. It’s killing originality.
-There’s a new movie called It Follows and it’s getting good reviews. It looks like any old horror movie. The only difference is it looks like a regular movie surrounded by this found footage bullshit which is probably why it stands out. This goes along with what I said about Core and Surroundings and probably the only reason this movie stands out is because of that very reason. If this movie came out 10 years ago it would’ve been easily looked over, but since it’s the only non-found footage BS gimmick movie, it stands out. It’s like you got a room full of nerds but the normal person who walks in is somehow amazing.
-Some movie called The Lazarus Effect is coming out, and it looks just like every over piece of shit movie. It’s made by the same people who made Insidious and all that shit. I have no clue what the movie is about, but why should I care, all their movies look like the exact same fuckin movie just different actors. Right now it has a 14% on rotten tomatoes so that basically sums it up for me, people probably fell asleep watchin that shit.
-Some new horror movie called Area 51 looks dumb. The box has the “from the director of paranormal activity and purge” print on it and every single horror movie that comes out has that shit. It even takes up more space on the box art than the fuckin title. This is why I’m done with horror movies, immature cocky and self-centered pricks like this, spamming their names all over their movies. Except for maybe The Purge, alot of these guys movies suck ass so they need to sit down somewhere.
-I took this from a blog I read on horror movies called “Horror films have lost creative edge over the years”
“We are in the age of supernatural horror in terms of film, with the vast majority of horror films now revolving around demonic possession or ghostly encounters. In order for these films to tug at emotional strings, they often go after a family with an adorable young child.
The genre is losing any sense of innovation because studios are sticking to what makes money. If children being possessed, innocent victims graphically losing appendages or sudden loud noises in the soundtrack scare the audience, then more of these films will continue to be produced. Unfortunately, this has turned the entire genre into a cash-cow that has sacrificed any ounce of originality for box office dollars.”
And everything they say is absolutely correct!
-Some new horror movie by M Night called The Visit looks dumb, another shaky camera movie. They still spam their names in the credits too. How the fuck do you expect to get credit as a director when 90% of the time you’re not even the one holding the camera and 90% of the shit you make looks exactly the same lol. I read in one interview he said:
“I don’t know how many people will see it because it’s so small and specific and you may not like it but it is 100 per cent an original movie from me,”
Yea okay, just like every other found footage movie, retard. This bullshit stopped being original once James Wan came along.
As of writing this, Insidious Chapter 3 just came out, June 5th. And all I gotta say is congrats to the Asian prick James Wan for lying to us, saying he’s done with the horror genre, only to come back a year later and give us more bullshit. Fuck paranormal movies, Fuck found footage movies, Fuck these jump-scare trailers, Fuck James Wan, Fuck Michael Bay, Fuck Jason Blum, Fuck Platinum Dunes, Fuck Blumhouse, and fuck the people who complain about these movies but still pay money to see them, giving them more reason to make more bullshit and further destroy the genre. And Fuck George Romero, Fuck zombie movies and fuck Walking Dead!
45. New Movies (other)
This is basically the same thing as above, except this is shit I wrote down for new movies that aren’t in the horror genre. I don’t really care for these movies as much but I wrote some shit down anyway. But its safe to say that originality wise, Hollywood is over. There’s no more interesting ideas, and nobody is creative anymore. All you see now is Marvel movies, Denzel movies, lame unfunny comedies, remakes, low budget romance flicks, paranormal flicks with footage inside the theater, and movies that are based off novels, which is probably where the real talent is anyway.
There’s also a mission in GTA V (only found this out watching the remastered walkthrough) called Friend Request. On the way back to the mansion, Michael is on the phone and says he’s a movie guy, but the dude on the other line goes “it’s all remakes, superhero movies, and romantic comedies” lol. Oh yea, and Transformers movies. Transformers is like the Call of Duty of the movie business: no heart, no passion, just box office numbers, cockiness, and putting your name on the front of all you movies in big bold letters, showing the world how much of an ass you are.
I don’t really care for these movies as much as the horror genre (even though the genre is in the shitter right now) but I’m gonna have to get into more of these non-horror movies if I wanna keep this movie reviewing thing going. So here’s a bunch of random shit I wrote down for these new non-horror movies. I’m actually not gonna sort this one by 3 lines or less or 4 lines or more, cause its so fucking big, random and overwhelming I’m just gonna drive myself crazy putting every sentence in the right category lol. So here you go, a bunch of random shit I wrote down over the last year or so:
-Divergent and Insurgent were directed by 2 different people: 1 captured the environment but the other didn’t. The director of Insurgent captured more in the trailer than they did in the entire Divergent movie, which is why I new they had a different director.
-The Three Stooges sequel gets confirmed, and I’m anxious to see it.
-Animated movie The Nut Job failed. But I thought it was lame and kinda knew it’d fail cause the trailer kept showing the same scene of the dog waggin it’s tail, and it wasn’t funny at all.
-The new 300 movie is one of the first movies in 3D that I can remember with good ratings. Cause as far back as I can remember every movie that was released in 3D has sucked lol. It’s like one of those cheap gimmicks used to pull people in.
-They play the trailer for Fault in our Stars and X Men more than Godzilla. I’ve only seen the trailer for Godzilla about twice on tv, but it was those stupid Doritos trailers and not trailers for the actual movie, which I thought was bullshit.
-Trailer for Transformers looks okay. But they say “A Michael Bay film” like anybody gives a shit. Why not “directed by Michael Bay” but I guess we all know the guy is a cocky prick.
-Blended got bad reviews, but during the preview commercials you see critics praising the film. Some of em were like “Adam and Drew Barrymore are amazing” or something like that. They played this trailer more than they played the trailer for Godzilla, what the fuck!
-Critics praise Ninja Turtles even though the movie has a 19% rating. I guess they ignore the other 80% and decided to choose the good reviews, what a group of imbeciles.
-At one point, Sony wanted to do a Men in Black crossover with Jump Street lol. They don’t even care about franchises, they just care about box office numbers. Men in Black 3 ended the series pretty well so they need to shut up.
-Jurassic World looks cool, but its is weird cause its coming out around all these other big movies. Back when the original came out there were barely any big movies out. But I’ll admit the new one looks cool.
-Taken 3 got a 9% on rotten tomatoes, which is worse than Legion’s 20% lol. And Liam Neeson is startin to get on my nerves.
-Dude from new Star Wars movie, John Boyega’s dad made him do dishes for not giving him any story spoilers. He posted a pic and laughed it off on twitter, but I thought that was shitty. It’s a fuckin movie, it ain’t that serious. Your dad must be a cornball lol.
-Their making Toy Story 4. I’m kind of on the fence about this, cause Toy Story is one of my favorite childhood movies, especially as a kid and even today. Toy Story 3 ended it so well I can’t see how they can ever top it. If they’re gonna make a 4th movie, go for it, but it’s gotta be better than 3 and it’s gotta be emotional. But I think the real reason their doing it is cause Frozen (as a movie with no fanbase or anything) made more than Toy Story 3 which was one of the top animated franchises out there. So they wanna make a 4th movie just to top it and sorta show who’s boss in the animation world. Later I found out it wasn’t a continuation of 3 but a completely different movie, a romantic comedy. Eh whatever.
Here’s some of the comments I saw on youtube though:
“Why did they continue!? The ending of 3 was too perfect!”
“Why couldn't they let this die when it was good.”
“You've gotta be kidding me -_- Toy Story 3 was a good enough ending to the franchise, way to go Pixar. I'd love to be proven wrong here but right now this sounds so stupid!”
And I agree with all of em.
-In my movie blog called Cinema Growth, I talk about how more and more movies are being made each year. And when I found this out, I was excited cause it meant more reviews. But even though more and more movies are coming out, that doesn’t always mean better movies are coming, a majority of em are indie movies and / or bullshit movies that I could care less about.
-I Frankenstein and Legend of Hercules both flopped. Around the time of it’s release, the new Hercules movie was getting alot of hate on IGN, and then it flopped. The trailer for them looked decent, but they got alot of dislikes on youtube. 2 heroes failed in 1 month lol. I went and watched a couple of the scenes of Hercules on youtube, and it was pretty bad. And I’m not saying this just cause I know the movie flopped, cause there are a few movies out there that I love that got really bad ratings (Mars Needs Moms and Legion, to name a few) But one scene in Hercules where he’s on the horse and he fights the soldiers was pretty bad, and pretty lifeless lol.
Eventually the movie hit cable and I couldn’t stop watching it. It’s one of those movies that’s so bad you just have to watch just to get a good laugh lol. There’s 2 kinds of bad movies: Some movies are so bad you can’t watch em, and some movies are so bad their just funny and you have to watch em just to get a good laugh: 1 movie that’s so bad I can’t watch is probably Dawn of the Dead. But a movie that’s so bad it’s just funny to watch is Legend of Hercules.
-Frozen 2 got announced, but everyone on ign was angry. They said Disney were just trying to milk the franchise. The billion that Frozen made don’t really mean shit when people are complaining about the sequel. I mentioned this before, but when a movie makes that much money, but barely anybody wants to say anything positive about it, to me that goes to show the real value in the product. Your billions don’t mean shit.
-They called Sex Tape “the #1 comedy in America” even though the movie bombed lol. They did the same thing with Adam Sandler’s movie Blended: they said Adam and Barrymore had great chemistry, even though the movie bombed and had a shitty rotten tomato score. But when Transcendence bombed, they immediately pulled the trailers. I guess Hollywood has a thing for promoting bad comedy movies, what a bunch of retards.
-They still do academy awards but it’s such a waste now cause big movies don’t come out anymore. And I saw the trailer for one of these award shows, and the first name they mentioned was Channing Tatum, which basically shows me where the movie business has gotten, mentioning this clown first and none of the other top actors.
-The new Terminator trailer looks lame and there’s so much bad acting and monotone lol. To me its not even about the story anymore, the only reason they make new Terminator movies now is to show off how good the CGI has gotten over the years. The chick in the trailer looks like Sara Connor though. I didn’t notice this at first till I saw a photo and she kinda does. In the 2nd trailer I saw, Arnold fights this dorky lookin dude, what the hell lol.
-I heard about this new movie called The Interview. It’s about these dudes interviewing some dictator about something. But I heard it got alot of controversy from North Korea cause it was making fun of their president or something, I don’t know. The big thing I heard was that James Franco had an orgy with a bunch of dudes and that’s pretty much all I needed to hear, what the fuck lol. Franco and Seth Rogan are always around each other too I’m startin to think their a couple. Same with Ben and Matt Damon like damn, get a room already. Everytime I hear about Matt Damon he’s talkin about his penis size, these dudes just need to get married, get it over with.
I’d rather watch a movie about a gay couple, than watch a comedy movie with straight dudes talkin about their penis size or runnin around in their underwear. Sorry if this grosses you out by me bringing it up, but imagine how I feel lol. Adam Sandler is probably one guy who does it the most. He’s always cracking those jokes or humpin someone in his movies. I just don’t see how that shit is funny. For me the only thing that’s sorta okay is seein dudes get kicked in the balls, but that’s about it, and for the most part I stopped laughin at that stuff when I was 12. I’m 24 now so you can imagine why I’m against it.
-The Insurgent trailer has alot of hate on youtube. For the most part they say the trailer doesn’t follow the book, but alot of people also say the Shane Woodley is ugly and it looks just like Fault in Our Stars lol. And I agree, this girl is startin to get on my nerves too. And when a movie with her comes out, they spam the trailer all over my tv like she’s some hot shot, get the fuck outta here chimp face.
-Batman vs Superman trailer looks cool, and its very dark. The dude from Man of Steel returns, and I loved him from that movie and think he did a good job. I kinda like Batman’s voice cause its alot better than Dark Knight’s dorky voice, very robotic but cool sounding. I rewinded that part like 5 times “tell me do you bleed” lol. I still hate Ben Affleck but he looks sorta cool… when his face is covered. And I love the Batman logo over the Superman S logo too.
-They say new Adam Sandler movie The Ridiculous Six is disrespectful to Native Americans. I don’t even know what the movies about, all I heard was he wanted them to “squat and urinate while smoking a peace pipe” All I know is when a dude that old is still doing jokes like this, something is wrong. Dude your 48, grow the fuck up. There’s nothing funny about urine unless you’re an immature 12 year old.
-Some new movie, 50 Shades of Black is a parody of 50 Shades of Grey. I haven’t seen the movie yet but after seeing the Ellie Goulding video I really wanna see it now. Her voice just makes the movie look 10 times better than it is, cause I saw a couple scenes on youtube and both actors look boring as fuck. But back to the parody, it looks lame as fuck. Marlon Wayans is startin to turn into Adam Sandler now, dudes over 40 who still think its funny to pull their pants down, but let me tell you something, ITS NOT FUCKIN FUNNY!
Maybe its just me but I don’t laugh at that shit, and I talked about this a little when I talked about GTA V. But I don’t laugh at penis jokes, or fart jokes, or people who pull their pants down, especially if their over 40 years old. To me, if people over 20 still laugh at that shit then that’s them, but it ain’t me. I mean damn are you gonna be pullin your pants down when your 60, nobody wanna see your old balls lol.
-They gave imdb this stupid grey theme because of the 50 Shades of Grey blu ray release, which was stupid and annoying, made all the text grey.
-I read on some site, Stephen Spielberg couldn’t finish Paranormal Activity, and could only watch it in the day time. What a pansy, those movies are for kids.
-Adlibbed scene I thought was cool from Man of Steel, Louise comes by and talks with the mother, and the dog is barking by the door. It barks a couple more times before the scene ends and its kinda cute, watching them react. It reminds me of the scene from Snatch with Brad Pitt.
-I heard The Cabin in the Woods movie has a lawsuit against them. Some dude wrote a book and said that the movie copied his book and characters names and stuff. There’s alot of movie lawsuits out there, especially against James Cameron and his Avatar movies. But this one sounded pretty convincing to me. As of now I don’t know if the case is gonna go to court or not but I’d like to see how this plays out.
-Transcendence got bad reviews. This is Johnny Depp’s third bad movie after Dark Shadows and Lone Ranger. People are getting tired of seeing him play the same old characters year after year and dude needs to listen. Quit paintin your face white and choose different roles, your boring as shit now.
-If it looks like something I can do, its not impressive. I probably mentioned this a couple times in this massive 90 page update but I just wanted to simplify this point and bring it up again. Especially when it comes to movies, if it looks like something I could do and / or could easily be pulled off by someone who doesn’t need to go to film school, then of course I’m gonna get angry, cause it baffles me how a guy sittin home like myself can do it better than most of the professionals out there. Let me give some examples and I’ve probably brought these up already, but whatever:
The Michael album: People like myself reacted negatively to the Cascio tracks, so the smart thing to do, would be to remove them from the album. And to me that would’ve only taken 5 seconds, to go back into the vault to get better songs. But no, the idiots left them on the album and separated MJ’s fanbase. 4 years later we get a new album called Xscape with all this hype around it, but instead of going to the vault, they just grab songs off the internet, something anybody could’ve done.
When it comes to movies there’s alot of shit out there that looks like something I could do. Alot of the found footage crap that comes out now looks like the type of shit anybody with an ipod could pull off. Just come up with some bullshit story (like The Pyramid or Oija) and throw some shitty spell crap in there and boom, shit movie created for less than 5 million. Now when it comes to other action movies (ignoring the budget) alot of those movies look like shit I could do too. They made a big deal outta Furious 7 all cause James Wan was making it, big fucking deal.
Then Paul Walker dies and he cries about it, but he probably never even met the guy, being so pre-occupied with his unscary shit ghost movies. So anyway, Furious 7 had a couple cool scenes in the movie, but nothing that impressive. The big scene they had was the scene where the cars all drop out the airplane, but it wasn’t impressive at all. If it were me, they would’ve done the same thing. But when the cars dropped out, I would’ve had a fight scene on top of the cars while they were falling. And then I’d have one dude hopping from car to car, while they were falling. But since James Wan doesn’t have a creative bone in his body, they just fall out the plane and land on the road, nice one, you dumb Asian prick.
-I read somewhere there’s a new film called Colossal, which is a rip-off of Godzilla, and fans like myself were pretty skeptical about it. Here’s one reaction that I read:
“LOL of course there getting sued there making a movie with a giant lizard invading Tokyo lol like really? It's a complete rip off they should create their own monster or chose something different, really a giant lizard? And then with a quote like this “It’s going to be the cheapest ‘Godzilla’ movie ever, I promise. It’s going to be a serious ‘Godzilla’ movie, but I’ve got an idea that’s going to make it so cheap that you will feel betrayed.” Why would I go want to watch a movie that’s a cheap version of Godzilla and will make me feel betrayed? Yea great you definitely sold me -_-”
I don’t even know the whole situation, but from what I’ve read some dude wants to make a movie like Godzilla and use the name, but Tokyo won’t allow it cause they own the rights, which makes sense.
-There’s another genre called “survival horror” which is movies like Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, The Mist, The Last of Us, and most zombie movies. Finally I found a name for these movies, cause I hate them all lol. Their so close to horror movies, and they look like their trying to scare you, but none of these are scary, especially if you grew up with the movies I have. The Mist was a weird one cause I was watching it and I just kept thinking “Why the fuck are they so exaggerated” like the expressions they make. Like in the scene where the worm (or whatever the fuck it was) grabs the dork, everybody just panics. Like dude I’ve seen shit 100 times better than that and people don’t make those faces, calm the fuck down lol.
If you really wanna see the difference between an exaggerated movie and a regular movie, here are some examples: Legion and Dawn of the Dead are 2 good examples. One is very exaggerated while the other is very straight forward. For example someone cuts their leg and everybody makes a big deal about it. Then you got the one dude constantly shining up his shotgun even though he barely uses it. They just put emphasis on scenes that would normally be ignored in a regular movie.
Another example is look at Into the Storm and then look at The Day After Tomorrow. When the storm hits, everybody (even with the bad acting) freaks out like you normally would. But in The Day After Tomorrow they don’t really freak out the same way. There’s just alot of talking, sitting around, and alot of dramatic expressions. It’s just a genre I could never get into, but I guess that’s just me. For me, the audience (mostly myself) has to be just as scared as the characters in order for it to work. If I’m not scared and I’m lookin at people shivering and biting their nails, it just looks funny to me.
This kinda works for comedies as well. Like if the characters are laughing at something but the audience isn’t. It’s the same with horror movies, where the characters look more scared than the audience. We have to be in on it and be with them for the ride, or it won’t be enjoyable. This is the last thing I wrote down, about this movie called Upside Down. I haven’t watched it ever since 2013 when I did my review and its June 2015 now so it’s been almost 2 years. But I watched it again and its actually pretty decent. The only problem the movie has is that the characters didn’t have alot of chemistry and it wasn’t really that cute, but that was it, everything else was perfect.
But anyway, I watched it and learned something new, that its really a movie about society. I’m probably gonna make a blog on this, cause there’s alot of movies that deal with society. And I didn’t even mention this in the review, about the rich people up top and the poor people down below. That right there is a reflection of the world today.
46. The Future / 2015 and Beyond
I’m calling this The Future cause this is basically where I talk about where I think this site will be in the next couple years. I’m proud of the site I created, and I’m proud of all the movies I’ve seen and reviewed. What I did, reviewing 500+ movies is something I could never re-do, and I only had one shot. I’ve edited and re-edited this stuff so many times over it’s not even funny, and I STILL feel some of it is kinda sloppy. I guess you can say I’m sort of a perfectionist, and I’m always trying to improve and become the best writer I can be.
So anyway I’m proud of what I created and I’ll never delete this site. And not only am I proud of the reviews I’ve done, but also the blogs / pictures I’ve used, and Misc section. I not only talked about the movies, but the writers, the directors, shit behind the scenes and added in my own little theories on stuff. Sure it’s all just an opinion coming from one person but I’m still pretty proud. People on the internet come up with their own theories as well and some of em are pretty cool. My favorite one is called The Pixar Theory. It’s this little blog on the Pixar movies where they claim all the Pixar movies are somehow related.
I mean I’ve seen little Easter eggs here and there in their movies, like for example a toy from Toy Story will be on a shelf in Monsters Inc, and only fans of the movie will be able to pick that out. But the blog goes into better detail about how their all related and it’s pretty cool. There’s also this theory on Sid and how in the first movie he was afraid of toys after that scene where they scared him in his backyard. And the theory is he plays the garbage man in Toy Story 3 with a sole purpose to destroy toys. Theories like that are pretty interesting and true or false, their a good read.
Like I said, this is probably gonna be my last big year for movies, cause next year we’re gonna get more paranormal BS and I’m not gonna sit here and do every movie that comes out like some people *cough* Jeremy Johns *cough* and basically make this some subscriber-driver whore site. I don’t get that guy at all, and he’s one of those youtubers who constantly begs you to hit the like button on his videos. Sometimes he knows the movie is gonna be bad, but sees it anyway just so he can do a review on it for his little subscribers, which I don’t get. You know the movie is bad but you pay money to see it anyway just so you can do a review of it on your site, so you care more about getting a video done than you do about seeing stuff you enjoy.
So anyway, at this point I’ve already done most of the movies I’ve wanted to see, so a majority of the movies I do from now on are gonna be from 2015 onward. At this point the horror genre is over so I might average 4-5 big films per year. I’ve already mentioned all the lame horror trailers that I saw but I also mentioned all of the new trailers that I might be interested in. And as of this writing I’m making a list of all the movies I’ll wanna do in the future when they get released. Again hopefully this stuff is interesting to you. I’m editing it very differently than I normally would, writing and then having to look at 20-30 different notes below. So I’ll start writing, then I’ll read something and I’ll add it in, then I’ll read something and add it in, so hopefully it doesn’t come off sloppy.
The big thing that helped me was knowing what to write about and knowing what to leave just as notes (-) Usually when I write stuff I’m just going off whatever comes to mind. It’s alot like how I used to write stories, and how I never really had a set plan, I just write what comes to mind and whatever comes to mind I just put it down. I think I did pretty well though, going through 80 pages of notes and sorting through em the best I could. I was under alot of pressure but hopefully everything looks and sounds neat, cause that’s what I strive for. And again, I know I did alot of cursing in these documents, so hopefully you give me a pass on that. I don’t wanna come off threatening like I’m trying to shove my opinion down anybodies throat by cursing so, forgive me.
When it comes to future movies I’m very open minded, but I’m gonna be careful what I choose to see and review. But I can definitely see myself doing this for a couple more years. And its nice to know that I can take an entire year off, come back and do the biggest movies I’ve ever done and still write as good as I used to. I think I have one of the biggest movie sites out there, and I’m proud of it. I not only talk about movies, but I talk about directors, writers, camera-work, actors, and all the shit that goes on behind the scenes, and I even talk about pictures. I’ve only had this site for 3 years and there’s no telling how big it’s gonna get in the coming years but I’m gonna keep at it as long as I can.
